Tips To Improve Your Family’s Health & Wellness

As families start to plan their back-to-school schedules, it’s a perfect time to begin integrating new health and wellness practices into your routines. Most people wait until the first of the year to try new habits. But why wait?

Instead of feeling the immense amount of pressure and often unrealistic expectations of New Year’s Resolutions, we’d encourage you to take baby steps towards developing better health and wellness routines during the Fall.

All of these can be done in small steps and worked into your family’s daily routine. We recommend including your kids in the process of making schedules and choosing healthier foods to help prepare for the week, so they will feel ownership of this new commitment to health and wellness rather than having it dictated to them.

Here are some of our favorite tips to improve your family’s health & wellness.

Get More Sleep

Don’t take sleep for granted. Sleeping allows your body enough rest and recovery to energize your day, especially when you have a hectic schedule.

Make it a habit to go to bed and wake up every day at around the same time, so your body can get used to the new routine. Especially for kids in school. Sleep is absolutely necessary for a good foundation of health & wellness.

Prepare for Illness

As kids head back to school and pack into classrooms, we know that illness will happen. So we encourage you to be proactive. This means talking with your family about taking the necessary daily vitamins, and making this a non-negotiable part of your daily routine.

Have your own wellness plan for when illness eventually strikes. Be prepared with effective at-home remedies such as colloidal silver, arnica, and other immune supporting vitamins like zinc, glutathione, vitamin D and vitamin C.

You can also keep your immune system supported with our IV therapy. This is a great time of the year to regularly schedule an immune boosting IV. Our lifestyle drip menu has many options to help you replenish your system and optimize your health.

Prioritize Exercise

The best way to develop a regular habit for exercise is to make it part of your schedule throughout the week. If you need accountability, join a fitness center. If you prefer a more structured routine, partner with a personal trainer or even a buddy who will help keep you motivated.

Even a quick 10-minute daily workout can help relieve stress, re-energize your body, and normalize your sleeping patterns. Don’t forget to involve your kids in getting more exercise. A simple evening walk or a backyard activity can help optimize their metabolisms and keep kids active.

Shop For Better Food Options

We really are what we eat and now is the perfect time to begin making smarter swaps for the foods your family loves the most. From school lunches to after school snacks and evening meals, begin to choose better brands and better ingredients for your family. Fresh options and organic options should begin to fill your pantry and fridge.

Some of our favorite brands are: The Good Crisp Company, Annie’s Natural Foods, Simple Mills, Canyon Bakehouse and JoJos.

Plan For Meal Prep

When the busy school mode starts to set in, our food choices tend to suffer. But, cooking and eating a healthy meal is not that daunting if you plan ahead.

Set aside a few hours once a week to prepare meals for your upcoming week. Slow cookers and one-sheet pan meals are an easy way to bulk-prep for the week.

A few chicken breasts and a can of salsa verde in the slow cooker for 4 hours makes the best shredded chicken. Or simple salads are an easy and refreshing option for a weeknight dinner.

Try to limit any fast food trips as much as possible. With proper meal planning, you can eliminate most last minute fast food trips. When your home is filled with lots of healthy food options and your schedule is carefully planned out, you leave little to no room for impulsive trips to the drive-through.

Get Everyone On Board

Our last big tip is to communicate with your family. Explain the WHY behind these changes: “We are making changes to make sure we stay healthy”.

All of these tips are meant to help you champion your health and your family’s health and wellness as the Fall approaches. By planting these seeds of good health for your children, you’re setting them up to be successful in the classroom, on the sports field and in life.

We’re all looking forward to cooler temperatures and Fall sports under stadium lights, but we also need to be realistic about our health and wellness and be proactive about our plans.

Take this back-to-school time to really do an assessment of your family’s health and wellness and create a plan to get back on track, if needed.
