Curcuminoids are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Curcumin is one of the most important curcuminoids and the focus of a great deal of research in which it has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. It also contains valuable secondary plant substances called polyphenols.
Even in low concentrations curcumin is anti inflammatory, immune stimulating, and a potent detoxifier. In one particular study it demonstrated significant reduction in urinary compounds that cause DNA damage in smokers.
IV curcumin is one of the most promising therapies on the horizon in cancer care.
Fighting Cancer
Curcmin is protective against various cancers. Research is ongoing and Mayo Clinic notes, “ Laboratory and animal research suggests that curcumin may prevent cancer, slow the spread of cancer, make chemotherapy more effective and protect healthy cells from damage by radiation therapy”.
Curcumin is groundbreaking for people with cancer. In a case series completed by Dr. Anderson in Seattle, Washington, he found stabilization of disease progression or actual confirmed disease regression in a group of stage-IV cancer patients who were resistant to all therapies (standard chemo and radiation therapy, as well as natural therapies).
Curcumin is essential for photodynamic therapy (PDT). It acts as a photosensitizer and absorbs light in the blue range. It can be administered IV or orally prior to PDT therapy. Curcumin can also be administered as stand-alone IV therapy.
Curcumin should be administered twice weekly and typically takes 60-90 minutes.
