Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation (UVBI) is a procedure that exposes the blood to light to heighten the body’s immune response and to kill infections. With exposure to UV light, bacteria and viruses in your bloodstream absorb five times as much photonic energy as do your red and white blood cells. This means the fragments of the killed infecting agents create a safe, self-generated response.

This further activates and directs your immune system to the specific infections your body is attempting to overcome. The net result is the induction of a secondary kill of these infecting agents throughout the entire body.

Conditions that may benefit from UVBI include acute/chronic viral/bacterial/fungal infections such as Lyme Disease, Candida, UTIs, etc.

The Process

Prior to this procedure, the patient is hydrated with saline first. Then blood is withdrawn from the patient’s arm and the same blood is run through a device which exposes the blood to controlled ultraviolet rays. After the patient’s blood is exposed to the UV light, it is returned to the patient through the same vein. Additional light sources can be utilized during this process including red, amber, blue and green.

During this process, smaller bacterial and viral cells are targeted, absorbing the majority of the photonic energy. The healthy cells remain intact while the disease cells are killed and become antigenic. Microbes in the bloodstream are rapidly destroyed when exposed to UV light. The end result provides a new supercharged immune response, greater oxygenation, and a balancing of your immune system.

Colors of Care

UVA

UVA emits the primary wavelength that stimulates NADH, and NAD+ production. This causes vasodilation thereby improving circulation and oxygenation to the tissues and organs. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects which improves pain. It also stimulates red blood cell production and improves blood flow and properties. It increases immune and pain tolerance to radiation or chemotherapy

UVC

UVC uses a high output bulb which is in the primary germicidal UVC band. It stimulates NAD and general germicidal and virus inactivation. It heightens the immune response and activates white blood cells.

RED

Red light has energizing effects, increases ATP production and mitochondrial energy, strengthens the immune system, increases cell activity, regenerates damaged tissue structures, improves blood viscosity and circulation, stimulates metabolism, relaxes muscles and calms nerves, reduces cholesterol levels.

AMBER

Amber light supports production and release of Nitric oxide, increases vasodilation and other signaling pathways. has antidepressant effects by enhancement of vitamin D and serotonin production, improves anxiety and panic attacks, is effective against chronic (viral) infections, and aids in detoxification.

GREEN

Green light increases oxygen uptake and delivery to the whole body, improves the function and behavior of red blood cells, reduces pain caused by inflammation and swelling, reduces lactic acid, activates tissue repair, improves glucose metabolism, and improves circulation.

BLUE

Blue light improves microcirculation by Nitrogen Oxide release, increases immune function and stem cell production, has strong anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, accelerates wound healing, supports pain relief, has anti-aging effects such as lengthening telomeres, reduces cholesterol and triglyceride levels, improves blood flow and delivering increased oxygen and nutrients to cells.
